Sustainability is more than just a word to us

In everything we do, we try to go beyond the surface. Sustainability, which is one of Freshlabels' three core values alongside design and quality, is no exception. In addition to searching for exceptional products with great timeless design and high quality, we recognise finding and providing comprehensive and easily accessible information about the brands and products we select as one of our main tasks. This is the only way both we and our customers can decide who to support with our purchase. Although Freshlabels didn't start out in 2006 as a purely sustainable store, we definitely plan to end up that way. We're delighted that more than two-thirds of our products already come from brands that have earned our Sustainable Tag, and many more are on the right track as well.

  • 2021

    We are increasing the ratio of products from truly sustainable brands to 66%. We are also introducing paperless online returns and claims. At year-end, we have achieved and surpassed a 50% mark of parcels sent in reused packaging. Finally, we receive the Heureka Sustainable Eshop certificate.

  • 2020

    We've opened the first Freshlabels Sustainable Store with an entirely sustainable product range. We launched a new way of assessing sustainability on the basis of our questionnaire. We publish specific information about the production and sustainability of products from more than 40 brands.

  • 2019

    We're preparing a sustainability questionnaire and sending it to all of our brands. We're launching a project to upcycle cardboard boxes. We came up with our own FL C 01 collection, made locally from deadstock fabrics. We've presented an interactive installation at Designblok on the topic of sustainability. We are also starting to use plastic bags made of 100% recycled plastic waste.

    We've replaced bubble wrap with shredded boxes for shipping.

  • 2017

    We've signed the PET Free pledge and renounce bottled water.

  • 2016

    We've introduced the Sustainable tag in our stores, which helps customers to easily find our sustainable products.

  • 2015

    In cooperation with Kamila Boudová, an expert on sustainable fashion and the founder of the Slou Fashion Days festival, we are working on the first rules of sustainability assessment.

  • 2013

    In cooperation with the Swedish brand WeSC, we participate in lectures and discussions on Corporate Social Responsibility activities.

  • 2010

    Our debut in the sustainable product range was the organic cotton collection from WeSC.

What we do for sustainability

Complex and transparent sustainability evaluation

We evaluate the degree of sustainability of our brands based on information obtained from our own complex questionnaire that we send to all the brands. For each product on our website, you can not only learn how a brand performs overall, but also get specific information about individual aspects of the product life cycle. We also indicate when a brand has not yet responded to our questionnaire. Learn more about the criteria and how we evaluate them here.

32 truly sustainable brands

We currently have 32 active brands in our portfolio that have earned our Sustainable Tag meaning that they meet more than half of the evaluation criteria. And we already have many more in the pipeline. Thanks to this you can dress sustainably from head to toe with us. At the same time, we evaluate existing brands on an ongoing basis, so some may aquire our tag and some may lose it.

Reused and recycled packaging

For several years now, we have been offering our customers the optioin to have their parcels sent in reused packaging. We receive the boxes both from the customers themselves as well as from partner companies. We are very pleased that we currently send out more than 50% of all our parcels without the need to use newly produced packaging. We also produce new packaging from the most recycled materials and use old shredded cardboard as fillers instead of bubble wrap if necessarry.

Paperless returns and claims

All returns and claims, even though we try to minimize them to reduce our carbon footprint, by, for example, accurately measuring products, are quick, easy and, most importantly, online. As well as our warranty claims. Thanks to that, you won't find any unnecessary paperwork, which often ends up in the trash, in our parcels, .

Freshlabels Sustainable Store Prague

In our Freshlabels Sustainable Store in Prague's Letná neighborhood, where you'll find only products that have been awarded our Sustainable Tag, you can easily dress yourself from head to toe in truly sustainable products. In addition, the interior designed by Lenka Míková Architects was created using recycling and upcycling principles - from the preservation of original elements to innovative materials such as boards from recycled and dry-pressed Tetra-Pak.

  • We don't drink bottled water

    We are signatories of the Dopper PET-FREE pledge - we don't drink bottled water from PET bottles at any of our workplaces.

  • We save energy

    For several years now, we have been equipping all our premises with LED lighting, which consumes significantly less energy.

  • We inspire and educate

    We participate in lectures, discussions, and panels, and on our Discovermag and our social networks we address a variety of topics related to sustainability.

  • We recycle

    In all our offices, warehouses, and shops, we consistently recycle all our waste.

  • No unneccessary bags

    Instead of giving out disposable bags for free, we are offering two better alternatives: you can buy our signature shopper made of organic cotton with GOTS certification or a sturdy recycled paper bag.
